Sylvie Washington traveled to the United States to visit her son and ended up winning the West Chester Story Slam, which was themed "Into The Wild." Sylvie is a resident of Wellington, England. Her son, frequent storyteller Andy Meehan, brought her out for a night on the town and Sylvie hopped up on stage and told her story about a lonely, frightening night traveling in Tunisia. We heard stories about traveling in such exotic places as Vienna, Afghanistan, Costa Rica, and the Australian Outback. We heard entertaining stories about getting lost on the Appalachian Trail, experiencing North Philadelphia, and surviving sports riots in such wild places as Detroit and London. We also heard creepy stories about tarantulas, monkeys and bats.

Thanks to Terry Heyman for guest emceeing, all our storytellers and judges, and everyone who came out to support live storytelling.

On this page, you will find Silvie's winning story and photos of the event. If you'd like to watch all the stories told on the night, click here.
