Out in Chicago this past Sunday, Nancy Donoval from Minnesota won the National Story Slam. One of the competitors, Ab Logan from Baltimore, outlined his thoughts on why Nancy's story won. I thought this was a nice summary to share. 1. She tackles very difficult human issues. 2. She trusts images and creates complex, elegant beautiful ones. 3. She believes her audience is very intelligent and completely attentive. 4. Her story is rich with emotional variety. 5. She tells the truth. 6. She gets a whole lot of story into five minutes: it feels like a bargain. 7. She stands up straight and doesn’t fidget. 8. She keeps company with brilliant tellers.

Thanks to Ab for allowing me to share.
